Officers followed Rasmussen until his vehicle left the highway and went into a deep ditch when he failed to turn at 500 South. Rasmussen was charged with evading police, aggrevated assault, nnd driving tinder the influence of alcohol. George R. McDonald, 24, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. McDonald jumped into the Rasmussen pickup before it left the Hiway Husky station. In an unrelated incident Monday night, police arrested a juvenile and charged him with felony theft. The 17-year-old received a telegram money order at Vernal Drug. He cashed the money order and left the drug store with both the money and the money order. The juvenile attempted to cash the money order a second time at the Maverik Country Store, 490 West Main in Vernal. A half hour later, police recovered both the money, $280, and the money order, Downard said. Investigating officers were Chris Symes, Dan Hughes and Ken Lawton, Utah Highway Patrol. |
