They worked on different merits according to the year of experience in camping. The Larry Peterson family enjoyed a trip to Manti to see the pageant that was performed there. The Fran Peterson family enjoyed a trip to Colorado where they explored old homesteads, saw a herd of buffalo and found some petroglyphs. Ernest Brooks had the misfortune of getting injured while on the job. The bicycle group "Ride the Sunrise," stopped in Jensen for their breakfast at daw n last Friday morning. They are peddling cross country. Bill Thomson was injured while on the job Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Kettle and family came for a visit and to attend the wedding wed-ding reception of Ann Peterson. Visitors at the Newell and Alice Snow residence, Monday through Wednesday, Wednes-day, were the Abino Gonzelas and daughters, Aurell and Marina of Craig, Colo. The Newell Snows are their grandparents. Also Milo and Olive Snow of Camby, came as they were in the area visiting friends and relatives. Gawain Snow took them to Salt Lake City Ci-ty to the airport. They returned home Thursday. Edna Raines, mother of Robert Raines, visited in the area Thursday and also saw her sister, Alice Snow. The Kelly Powells were happy to have their daughter and family from Arizona, the Larry Werners, come to visit them for a while. The Werners had a family reunion in Yellowstone Nat'l Park and rafted the river there. A special birthday supper was held at the Heber Wilkens home to honor four persons in their family who have their special days during July. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Durphee and family fami-ly were visitors at the Lyn Morrill home, they all enjoyed an evening of fun at the river along with the Wade Slaugh and Fran Peterson family at the VBVBVBVMaMaBBBBIBBlaiiiHaSaVHMH Jack Ruppe ranch there. Many were present and had an enjoyable time. The Doug Moody's of Meeker, Colo., were weekend guests of their grandmother, grand-mother, Mary Peterson. The Jerimiah Hatch Murray reunion will be held at the old Jensen School yard, Saturday, Aug. 2. All descendants are asked to be in attendance. The descendants of Peter F. Peterson family are having a reunion Sunday, Aug. 3, at the old Jensen School yard. A good time is in store for all who attend. A Ruppe reunion was held in Greeley, Colo., and traveling to this occasion were the Jack Ruppe and Fran Peterson families. They left July 24 and on their way they stopped in Clark, Colo., and visited the Dean Chew family. The Bedell family was not at home at the time so they didn't get to see them. The two families spent time camping out and sightseeing on their way to and from the reunion. All who were there had a good time. New officers of-ficers were appointed. They were Shirley Oldaker as secretary and Gladys Peterson, president. The next gathering will be held in our area in 1984. Scoutmaster Byron Toman and helper Dee Curfew took the scouts on a six day trip. The boys will hike in to their camp area and enjoy fishing, hiking and cooking. Eleven boys will be there to test their skills and learn new, ones. A wood project is taking place this year again when the scouts and fathers will gather stove wood for sale to get money for the scout fund. This should help the boys in their activities for another year. If you need winter wood, contact Bryon Tolman at 789-6144 and get your order in. A special surprise birthday celebration was held in honor of Myrtle Murray's 75th birthday. The preparations were made at the George Murray home with decorations and a' beautiful three-tier cake with all the flavors of lemon, pineapple and coconut and the inscription of "Happy Birthday Granny" and a "75" lettered on the top layer. Rose Murray made the cake. Those is attendance of her children were ciaine Bascome, the Blaine Murray oi Kangely; the Ferris Murrays of Vernal, the Jimmy and Doyle Murrays of Jensen. Special out-of-immediate gamily guests were Abe and Delia Murray; Lynn Massey and children of Brush Creek; and Phylis White who lives next door. Everyone Drought pot lucK and i special gifts for the occasion. A missionary farewell was held July 27 to honor an outgoing young man into the mission field. Mont E. Warren will enter the Mission home on July 31 and will prepare in language training for the area of Chile. Elder Warren will be gone from our area for two years while he is serving his church. |
