Show Lions Club to raise funds for playground equipment The Vernal Lions Club will underwrite un-derwrite a fund-raising campaign this fall and winter to raise some $10,000 to $12,000 to help purchase $35,000 in playground equipment for Vernal. According to Lions Club President, Glade Watkins, this is one of the most -acute needs in the community. A recent poll conducted by Vernal City showed a 6 to 1 preference for such a playground project. Mr. Watkins said the Lions Club is planning to sponsor a series of travelogues with all proceeds going to the playground equipment project. He emphasized the shows will be family oriented and family tickets will be sold for the series. However, area residents will have an opportunity to view the first travelogue free by obtaining tickets from Lions Club members or official ticket outlets. The "travel and adventure series" will include some seven travelogues with six nationally known adventureres and exployers who have filmed each motion picture and will be one hand to personally narrate each show. President Watkins said the Lions project is being headed up by past club president, Mike Sullivan with DeLone Slade as auditorium chairman, Jeff Gibson in charge of grants and business advertising, and Brad Wallis heading up ticket sales.
