Show City council meeting Vernal City Council faced a light agenda last Wednesday allowing time to cover legal dealing with the Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District (AVW&SID) in executive session. Court Anderson, representing the Citizens for Better Education, requested the city's cooperation against the Grub Bug, local mobile catering service, serving Vernal Junior High students. Citizens feel the service threatens the newly closed campus at the school. The Grub Bug is presently serving the school from city property. The council was notified of four pieces of property which have requested annexation. The council was also informed that a well drilling company, Robinson Drill Company. Salt Lake City, has contacted con-tacted the city about drilling a well at Ashley Springs to suppliment city water. The council was presented with two applicants for industrial revenue bond requests, which ask the city to bond to finance their establishments at a lower than conventional interest rate. A doctor's office and a tire store have applied. After considering eight business licenses and hearing committee reports the council went into executive session scheduled fur ) p m.. concerning litigation with the AVW&SID and related matters. The city initiated a suit against the AVW&SID last June which questions the legality of their forming a district over the city's water service area. |
