Show American Gilsonite Company to hold open house in Bonanza American Gilsonite Company is marking its 75 years of mining gilsonite in Bonanza and at the same time showing off its new $5.3 million consolidated con-solidated processing plant this Saturday. According to American Gilsonite's Bonanza manager Richard Dewey, an open house will be held Saturday morning for invited guests to tour the new gilsonite plant. In the afternoon a western style picnic will be served to company employees, staff members and families. The new plant, which was engineered and constructed by Ford Bacon & Davis Utah, Inc., replaces four other scattered scat-tered operations, according to Dewey, and will greatly improve the com-. com-. pany's ability to serve constantly changing world markets for Gilsonite. He explained that Gilsonite is a natural hydrocarbon substance of the ciass knows as asphaltites, occurring as a solid mass in vertical, nearly paralled veins, and the only commercially important deposits, in the world are found in the Uintah Basin of eastern Utah and western Colorado. |
