Show Agriculture Pilot Project Applications Sought Here i Applications are now being accepted from anyone in this area who is interested in participating par-ticipating in a pilot project which is designed to provide indications about which crops, can be economically grown in the Moab Valley, according to Don Hoffman, Economic Development Director. The agriculture demonstration demonstra-tion project will involve the extension service and possibly possib-ly include funding from the Four Corner Rregional Commission. Com-mission. Land owners will furnish land, up to one acre in size, available water, labor and fencing for the plot and the project will furnish the plants such as grapes and berry ber-ry bushes to be used. 'An agriculture economist will be on hand to make periodic per-iodic checks of the project in a three to four year period until the products come inio full productivity, Mr. Hoffman Hoff-man said. This economist will also be sounding out various var-ious markets and will help to steer the formation of a marketing mar-keting association. Officials from the extension division were here last week to meet with the Grand County Coun-ty Water Conservancy District Dist-rict concerning soil types, and other aspects of the project. Anyone interested in becoming becom-ing a part of the project is asked to contact Mr. Hoffman 253-2211 or Betty Bowen, 253-8521 253-8521 for details. |
