This is the second major book of poetry published by the Episcopal Priest. Father Hogben, known as "The Buckaroo Priest," was born in Troy, New York. He graduated from Syracuse. University Magna' Cum Laude wenning .a Phi Beta Kappa Key and other honors and . awards. He was ordained an . Episcopal priest in 1935. His poems, appearing in nagazilnes,, quarterlies! and ,am!lhoiogies, haive won dis-tiingushed dis-tiingushed awards. Among the mcclt recent lare the First Place Award in the .1969 National Poetry Contest Con-test sponsored by the American Am-erican Poets Fellowship Society Soc-iety and the 1966-67 First Place Gold Cup Prize in the ,same annual contest. Father Hogben spent seventeen sev-enteen years and traveled over ov-er 60,020 miles on horseback among the Paiute, Bannock, Shoshone and Ute Tribes in Nevada, Idaho, and Utah. His career also has included service .as chaplain1 during World War II. He1 retired re-tired from the United States Army Reserve with the Rank of Major. . Married, father of .three, grandfather of two, he is presently vicar of The Church of St. Francis' in Moab.
