Show Schools Reject Bids On Voc. Ed. BuiSdinq At a special meeting held at noon on Tuesday, the Grand County Board of Education Ed-ucation formally rejected all bids which were submitted Monday evening for construction con-struction of the Vocational Education Center. Superintendent Superin-tendent C. Robert Sundwal! stated that because all cf the bids were much, much higher than available funds projected for the center, that the remaining summer months mon-ths will be spent working with architects and local school personnel to make some aieroations in plans land spejf jcations with the hope that new bids will be sought early in the fall. The bulk of available funds which were pledged, by the Four-Corners Regional Region-al 'Development Commission will not be jeapordised by ftiKLs decision. Mr. Sundwall stated that he had received, assurance Tuesday morning (that Grand County would be 'given an extension of time (by the Commission in which ta make adjustments which would bring canstrucbioni costs to wilihin tine figures of funds available. At Monday night's meet-ling, meet-ling, three bids were submitted. submit-ted. A total of eight contractors con-tractors diecked cut plant specifications, but only three 'submitted bids for the proposed pro-posed construction. Thosei were the Knowttan Brown Construction Company from Brighaim City; Paulson Con- stmction of Salt Lake City; and f.ie E. J. Sondegger Construction Company out of 'Mon'.iccllo. All fairly close together, the bids were 83 percent over the architects estimates of what ihe building build-ing should cost. Low bid, by Paulson Construction Con-struction Company was $4,89, 63, followed by the Mon-tieetlo Mon-tieetlo firm, E. J. Sondeg ger at $517,020 and the Kno--wlton Brown Construction Company at $535,212.41. At the Board meeting on Monday night, Moab National Nation-al Bank submitted the lower low-er of two bids received by the board for the purchase -of tax anticipation notes in ,amounts up Ito. $3&O,O0O.
