Show Pirate news . . . By Shawn Acerson The Pirates had their annual Homecoming Week all of last week. On Monday the 9th was Spirit Day. The seniors wore sheets to look like spirits, the juniors wore hats and these two classes did different spirit yells throughout the day. The freshmen class was initiated initiat-ed that night by whitewashing white-washing the G on the hill. They did a real good job and it stands out now. TUESDAY The senior class had their slave sale again this year. They made $123.00. One of the highlights of t Via oala uq a Dnrrol Mecham fighting for Jeanee Lasson's leg and only paying $15.00 (the highest of them all). Today was also dress-up day with several kids dressing up. The bonfire march up to G Hill to Light the V for Victory brought out quite a few kids. The police were also called on for awhile for some matters. Pep Club held a bake sale and brought in $68.00. WEDNESDAY Hall decorations were put up by some classes early in the morning (1:00) for the beginning of school. They were well done signs. The Queen's Contest was held at 7:30 in the school gym. Many were In attendance to watch the 16 lovely girls show their talents. A baton twirl dance by Renee Hatt and a gymnastic gym-nastic routine by Theresa Hing were displayed. They all did a great job. The Queen was Audrey Thompson (10th), 1st attendant at-tendant Shalia Burr (12th), 2nd attendant Jeannee Lasson (12th), Miss Congeniality Leslie Ekker (11th). We appreciate appre-ciate the fine job that Mr. Bacon did as MC. THURSDAY Today was skits for the classes. There was a variety of different skits which were well done. UottM of them were done late the night before. The competition games were also held today on the footbul! field. The pie, eating contest made ulol of people laugh. Those that were participating in it had a hard time getting it down. The egg toss . really was fun with several people ending up with egg all over them. The apple bob went fine this year without anyone drowning. The wagon push was a crash and burn for some of the classes. The halfway mark for the juniors brought trouble with Dan-na Dan-na Bastian crashing twice and still wanting to go on, but the pushers gave up. The 7th Graders were out to a good start and then they crashed bad about an eighth of the way. |
