Show Oil Shale Deadline Extended bv Morton The October 23, deadline to file information and comments com-ments on the government's proposed prototype oil-shale leasing program in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado has been extended, according to Secretary of the Interior Rogers C.B. Morton. Morton Mor-ton cited the tremendous interest in-terest in the proceedings as the reason for moving the deadline. New deadline for filing written comments with the department's Office of Hearings Hear-ings and Appeals is now November No-vember 7. The two prototype proto-type leases, which are being offered under competitive bonus bo-nus bidding, require payment of production royalties to the federal government. Hearings Hear-ings on the matter have been held at Salt Lake City, Ver-nal, Ver-nal, Denver and Grand Jet., Colo, and Cheyenne and Rod Springs, Wyoming. Hearing: were also held to receivi public testimony on a draf environmental statemen which was prepared in con nection with the shale-leas ing proposal.
