Show Grand County Mill Levy Remains at Same Level Two changes in the mill levy were acted upon at the Grand County Commissioners Commission-ers Meeting which was held on Monday, August 4. These two changes, however do not alter the total levy which will remain at the same figure fig-ure as it was a year ago. Commfssoners Mars Pope and Ralph Miller, Sr., voted to lower the Bond and Sinking Sink-ing Fund one half mill, setting set-ting it at a level of 2.20. This was done after discussing discuss-ing the City and County Building final payment which is due next year. Annual payments on the building have been $50,000, but the remaining payment for next year is only $30,000. This half mill was added to the General County Purpose Pur-pose Fund, making it 6.80. According to Barbara Don enick, county clerk, this was passed because of the increasing in-creasing hospital costs faced by the county. Hospital officials of-ficials have requested a raise in their allocated budget funds, which can be supported support-ed by this raise in the mill levy covering that area. The library mill levy requests re-quests had not been turned in at the time of the meeting meet-ing on Monday, but no change was anticipated by the commission. Grand County Board of Education also met on Monday Mon-day to discuss the mill levy for tax purposes in Nov. It was voted by the board at. that time to maintain the same mill levy, 43 mills. It was noted, however, that this will be the last year for the 3 mills which were added after af-ter the voted leeway 4 years ago. |
