During the month of July, 27,819 persons visited, the monument monu-ment which brought the total to-tal for the year up to 99,326; This compares with 18,451 visitors for .the same month last year and 73,096 for last year's total on July 31. All other National Park visitor centers also showed visitation increases . for the. month of July, but not in the same proportion as those at the Arches. The Island In the Sky, located in the Northern end of Canyonlands National Park saw an increase of 27 percent for te month and 2 percent for the year, com pared with, last years statistics. statis-tics. The Needles Section of Canyonlands National Park showed an increase of 27 percent per-cent for the month but has seen 83 fewer visitors than a year ago, or a 10 percent decrease. ' Natural Bridges visitors' records showed an increase in both the monthly and yearly Comparisons with an increase of 15 percent and 9 per cent respectively. To date, 4,195 camping visitors vis-itors have been to the Arches 570 to the Island In the Sky, and 806 to the Needles section. sec-tion.
