The cast includes Russ Tamblyn, Lon Ohaney, Jenniffer Bishop, Shyroni Winter's, Leslie Mc-Grea, Mc-Grea, Nisa'Renet, Gina Carrol Car-rol and Alissa Lee. The movie is in a modern setting but tells the life of 11 women who are again- . st the rules of society and form a club and in general do as they wish. The location scenes taken in and' around Hanksville will present the part of the film near the Mexican border. The girls are all expert horsewomen and travel in this style in this portion. Scenes have been shot in Capitol Reef, Goblin Valley, and Lake Powell, but they have been housed and fed in Hanksville during these two weeks of filming. Others behind the scenes . besides Mr. Nussbaum, and : Mr. Papamiehael, are As- . sistant Producer , Dany Re- net, Director, Al Adamson, Production Manager Bud Cardos along with many extras, ex-tras, cameramen, prop men, makeup girls, hair stylists, and cooks. All the towns residents haye a finger in the production produc-tion too as they have all helped with obtaining old furniture fur-niture for the cantina scenes along with Mexican blankets, burros, chickens and what have you that the prop men might need. When a scene is being shbt everyone drops their canning, ironing, 'Supper 'Sup-per or what have you, 'and rushes to location. Bradley's Brad-ley's garage has been made into a Mexican Cantina with nine-foot mirror, bar, brass rail and booze (filled with ice tea). The atmosphere is fjhere when you walk thru the swinging doors. The tequila jugs, the clay pottery, dripping dripp-ing candles, soft drink signs ai in Spanish. The temperatures in the 100's have really made the cast suffer when they are doing do-ing indoor shots as the overhead over-head lighting makes the temperature tem-perature rise even hieher. The children in town were given roles of 'extra' in Fridays Fri-days shooting in the street. The Wonderland Cafe has ' been refaced as an adobe with a watering trough, town well and hitching posts added. add-ed. Fridays shooting took place as the women ride into in-to the Mexican town like cowmen from a cattle drive. Their leader, Grace, rides her mount into the cantina to announce their arrival. Then a fight scene between two Mexicans is filmed in the streets which involves wrestling under tied horses and burros and ends up with one fellow in . the water trough. . The producer, Mr. Nussbaum Nuss-baum is very awed by this area, unusual beauty and is trying to get as many outdoor out-door location shots as possible. pos-sible. Since his company is based in Europe most of his films are released there but his most recent one which would be familiar to Americans Ameri-cans is "Sinai Commandos" with Robert Fuller which was filmed on the Sinai Des- est. The Appollo Moon Shot and the -Dalia Production Co. arriving ar-riving in Hanksville were both firsts. Although several movie companies have been into Wayjp County fn the Capitol Reef and Sleeping Rainbow Ranch, this is the first time ce has used the town, the people, and the location lo-cation for the movie and we're we'-re .all very proud to be a part. Since most of the cast are Europeans they are impressed impress-ed by the communitie's hospitality and friendliness. They participitated in a farewell party Friday with their musical instruments and singing. The business people who are handling their meals, lodging, and transportation, should be given credit for extending their h ospitality further than ' expected with meals at all hours for fifty persons at a time, trying to keep names straight for phone messages, and doctoring doctor-ing those who are injured, obtaining supplies for building build-ing in distant towns, for stopping traffic and standing the main street for shooting. They too have their share in the movie.' Fridays shooting at Goblin Valley resulted in stuck trucks and hours were spent getting the crew and supplies sup-plies back to town. As one actress put it, "That Gobble-Up Valley really gobbled up .that truck." The kids have added words to their vocabulary and will re-act what they've seen for months to come. We'll hear 'Amaigo', Cut, Rollem', Quiet You folks were' shoot-in' shoot-in' live, Gringo, and "A Time To Run" in every household in Hanksville, or "when the movie was made here," or "that girl was a real charmer," charm-er," did you see that mdco-mini mdco-mini skirt on that red-head,? will be repeated by the adults. ad-ults. We're all enjoying their presence and do hope they come again soon. |
