Show )y$ will Mr. McConkie Former Moab Man Gains Top Highway Post Former Moabite, Shel-" don Wayne McConkie has been named Chief of the Roadway Design Division of the Utah State Department Depart-ment of Highways. The announcement was made today in Salt Lake City at a meeting of the Utah State Road Commission. Mr. McConkie will replace re-place Alex Mansour w ho was recently appointed District Five Engineer. The Highway Department Depart-ment is fully dedicated to the protection and enhancement en-hancement of the environment. envir-onment. Mr. McConkie as Engineer for Location and Environmental Studies Stud-ies has been involved in this process since the beginning. He has directed direct-ed all of the Department's environmental impact studies and has done an excellent job in helping the Department to protect the environment. Mr. McConkie has worked for the Highway Department since 1960 as a Planning Engineer, Project Design Engineer, and Route Surveys Sur-veys and Location Engineer. Engi-neer. Mr. McConkie is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. McConkie, 39, was born in Moab, Utah and attended Dixie High School. He received an Associate Degree in Science Sci-ence from Dixie College in 1954 and a B.S. Degree De-gree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. He obtained his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah this June. Mr. McConkie is a Registered Professional Engineer in Utah. Mr. McConkie and his wife Sirpa have three children; Wayne 12, Joel 8, and Christina 5. Assuming the title of Engineer for Location and Environmental Studies Stud-ies will be Sterling C. Davis. Mr. Davis has been with the Highway Department since 1968 and his last assignment was District Six Precon-struction Precon-struction Engineer. Mr. Davis is a graduate of the University of Utah with a B.S. in Civil Engineering En-gineering and a M.S. in Engineering Administration. |
