Show Grand County Gas Well Producing 3. 1 Million Oil and Gas leases on more than 85,400 acres just west of the Great Salt Lake area were filed this week by Cities Service Ser-vice Oil Company, Tulsa. The lease applications were filed with the Bureau of Land Management Manage-ment covering two townships town-ships . . .4 and 5 N, and three ranges; 14, 15, and 16W in southern Box Elder Eld-er County, some 18 to 20 miles west of the Lake. The area is in the Newfoundland New-foundland Mountain vicinity vi-cinity in the north-central area of the Great Salt Lake Desert region. Carlton Stowe, Minerals Specialist, Utah Geological Geologi-cal and Mineral Survey, notes the latest leasing activity marks renewed interest in the western desert areas of the State. Elsewhere, Mr. Stowe notes a new gas well in the San Arroyo field of Grand County is completed com-pleted and producing gas , at the rate of 3,155,000 cubic feet daily. Willard Pease Oil, Grand Junction, Junc-tion, completed the well, No. 1 Anderson-Federal after drilling to a total depth of 7,090 feet. The well is second in the vi- cinit.v to be successfully , completed recently by Mr. Pease. He drilled the "No. 2 Anderson-Federal last month and completed it flowing four million cube feet of gas daily. Shell Oil has brought in three more wells in the Altamont field flowing flow-ing oil at rates of 1,208; 605 and 877 barrels daily. All three wells were drilled dril-led to depths below 12,-820 12,-820 feet. Flying Diamond Corporation has made location lo-cation for a new test at Altamont, the No. 1 Lamb. It will be drilled to at least 18,000 feet. Gulf Oil Corp. has scheduled sche-duled an Altamont well, No. l-5c5 Ute, to go about 11,800 feet and, Chevron Oil will drill a new well in the Bluebell area at No. 1-33A1 Pack. 1 |
