Show Moab Accidents Investigated By Police Accidents and investigations investiga-tions of other incidents in Moab during the week were reported Tuesday by police. Officer Jim Nyland investigated investi-gated an accident which occurred Thursday, Nov. 1 1 at 5:55 p.m. near the intersection of Second East and Center Streets. Olen Sheets was going east on Center, driving a 1966 Chevrolet and failed to see a parked 1968 Lincoln owned by Jay Carter, running into the vehicle. There was $300 damage estimated to the Chevrolet and $200 estimated to the Lincoln. Sheets was cited for improper lookout resulting in an accident. acci-dent. There was an act of vandalism at E & E Sports Center Nov. 13 when a large window was broken with a plastic jug of water. Damage to the window was estimated at $200 and one of the bikes inside the shop was damaged by falling glass. Also the morning of Nov. 13 there was a window broken in the office at Moab Lumber. Someone entered and went through drawers, evidently taking nothing from them. A Homelite chain saw was taken from the store, and it was later recovered in a field behind the lumber yard. Sometime over the weekend the Visitor Center was entered. enter-ed. A turquoise bracelet valued at about $75 belonging to Dixie Barker, and $50 cash were taken. Officer Kirk Rigby investigated investi-gated an accident which occurred about 2 a.m. Nov. 16. He reported Joe R. May, driving a 1973 Chevrolet El Camino, came out of the stop sign at the intersection of Locust Lane and Fourth East too fast His vehicle went across the street and hit a parked 1971 Oldsmobile belonging be-longing to Roger Darbonne. May was cited for failure to keep his car under control, resulting in an accident. Damage to the Oldsmobile was estimated at $500 and damage to the El Camino at $1500. |
