Show Zoning Decisions Mode By City Council Two requests for zoning changes were before the City Council at their regular meeting meet-ing Nov. 16. One was denied and one was approved. Approved was a request from David May to rezone from R-3 to R-4 a parcel of land at the west end of Center Street, west of 1st West, which will allow him to put in a commercial plant nursery facil ity. Since there was no one objection, the council approved approv-ed this change. 1 Turned down was a request to rezone from C-5 to C-2 a parcel of land at Mill Creek Dr. and 4th East which would have allowed self-service gas pumps at the new Gopher Store being constructed there by Larry Clark and Dr. Paul Mayberry. There were about 5 residents of the immediate area who did not want to see gas pumps and objected, so the council denied the request. Both rezoning requests had been approved previously by the planning and zoning commission. A request, was made by Donna Day for the Silver Dollar for a cabaret license. Ms. Day did not appear, and the Council fabled the request pending investigation and review. Bill Meador appeared to ask if the city would serve as agent of record to make application to the federal government for fund grants for a community center and swimming pool. The council agreed to do so, and also went on record as supporting grant application for the Spanish Valley Water and Sewer District. , In other council business, it I was announced that city water well No. 10, the Robertson Well, should have a pump installed by Nov. 22. Also the council authorized the installation installa-tion of a trash rack to catch trash in the Moab Irrigation ditch -before it goes into a culvert under the highway near the Visitor Center. |
