Show Community Survey Sampling Covered Varied Group What kind of people responded to the Community Progress Survey taken by the Chamber of Commerce community development board last August? All kinds, from young to old, representing a wide range of occupations, according to the survey section entitled "About Yourself." There were about 100 persons of those receiving questionnaires who responded. Results tabulate a little differently from section to section because people did not always respond to each question. According to results, 43 sampled were male and 57 sampled were female, a total of 100 respondants. However, it appears some person or persons did not care to reveal hisher sex, because tabulations on the age breakdown total 102 percent, or persons, as the case may be. Their ages were: 12 between the ages of 15 and 24; 23 between 25 and 34 years; 23 between 35 and 44 years; 15 between 45 and 54 years, 12 between 55 and 64 years, and 10 who are 64 or over. Of these, 27 per cent have lived in Moab from one to five years, compared with 33 per cent who have lived here over 20 years. These were the two largest groups in the breakdown of length of time as a resident of the community. Thirteen per cent have lived here between 6 and 10 years; 17 per cent have lived here 11 to 15 years; and 10 per cent have lived here between 16 and 20 years. Of those responding to the survey, 72 per cent said they expect to be living here five years from now; and 16 per cent said they do not. This high percentage of affirmative response predicts a growing stable population base in the area during the next few years. This is also borne out by the fact that 78 per cent said they are buying or own their home, compared with 14 per cent who are renting, and 9 per cent who did not answer the question. |
