Show PROP WASHBiN By Jim Hurst We had a good trip. Ed Hughes, Lynn Reed (the former Debbie Hughes' husband) and Gary Faulks (the former Diann Hughes' husband) and myself. I picked them up in Grand Junction Friday, a.m., and we were in Lac Laronge at dark, having stopped at Billings Montana and Saskatoon, Sask, enroute. Saturday we caught Lake Trout and Northern Pike. Sunday saw us at Cree Lake where we caught more Northerns. Then the local Gulf distributor let us spread our bed rolls in his office. Monday we fished in Black Lake and the river which netted lots of those fighting Artie Ar-tie Greylings. That night was spent in Fort MC Murray, which is the home town of the Canadian Cana-dian Tar Sands and we found a billion dollar development de-velopment getting underway. under-way. Just a couple years ago we had stopped at Fort McMurray and it was a town of only a few thousand. It is now eleven thousand and still growing. Tuesday nite we spent in Lethbridge, Alberta. Al-berta. Wednesday morning morn-ing we cleared customs at Great Falls, Mont., crossed Yellowstone Park to the Wind River Mts., where the Green River starts, made a stop at Pinedale, Wyoming on to Grand Junction and then home. We had covered about 3,000 miles. Eight Eight Yankee's stay in the hospital is nearly over needing only paint and assembly (she has been fitted out with amphibious float fittings and an STOL (short take off & landing) kit) and we'll dress her up with a new paint job. The week of November 11th will be Aviation Week in Utah. That week, to show our support, we will give penny-a-pound rides from 2 p.m. till dark and give tours through our Douglas DC 3. Night airplane rides will be 2 cents a pound by appointment app-ointment only. |
