Show Utah Schools Will Honor Natl. School Lunch Week On Wednesday, Oct. 17, 190.000 students in Utah's public school system will eat barbecued beef on a bun. In fact, on that day hundreds of thousands of school age youngsters from all over the nation w ill dig into the American favorite. The national menu which also includes buttered but-tered whole kernal corn, popeye salad, yellow cake with cherry sauce, and milk is being served on a national basis in order to observe National School Lunch Week, October 14-20. 14-20. Governor Calvin I. Rampton has signed a i Declaration inviting ' , Utah's participationinthe event. ' Other activities and , ceremonies will be held j during the week in order , to increase public under- j standing and awareness of the significance of the National School Lunch Program to the child, the home and the nation. According to Imogene Hamilton, School Food Specialist with the I tan State Board of Education, "You Are What You Eat, will be the slogan for the week's activities. Posters Pos-ters displaying a colorful bear full of nutritious and good tasting food are being be-ing used at schools to advertise ad-vertise the slogan. Other means such as slogan book markers. activity ac-tivity books with the nutrition nut-rition message, ana school folders displaying the healthy bear, are being be-ing used to teach students proper eating habits. |
