Show Candidates Showing Up in City Races The official filing period per-iod for positions to be open in the upcoming City election began Oct. 9, and already three persons- have announced their intentions to seek office, according to Mayor May-or Winford Bunce. The filing period remains open op-en until October 19. The first man to file was Curt Robertson, who announced his intention to seek the position of Mayor of Moab. A second sec-ond candidate announced for that position on Tuesday, Tues-day, William D. McDougald, McDou-gald, who is presently a City Councilman. Only one man has filed for one of two City Council Coun-cil seats to be up for grabs in the election. Jim Chmielewski, a new-", new-", turner who vorKs as a respiratory therapist at Allen Memorial Hospital, Hos-pital, announced that he will seek this position. Two City Councilmen whose seats are open for election are Jack West and J. Kay Hawks. Members of the Citizens Cit-izens Party have called a party convention to be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 8:00 p.m. at Star Hall for the purpose of plac-in plac-in nomination a ticket. Chairman of the party is Thomas A. Stocks. Residents of Moab City who are not registered voters should plan to register re-gister at the various voting vot-ing districts on either October 16, or 30. Those with questions about where to register should contact the County Clerk. Registration can also be completed up to ten days prior to the election at the office of the County Clerk in the Grand County Coun-ty Courthouse during regular business hours. Mayor Winford Bunce indicated that a number of other petitions for office of-fice are still outstanding and it is likely that several sev-eral other people will file prior to the deadline dead-line later this month. |
