Show NPS condemning land in Capitol Reef c By Brbr Ekker The National Park Service i;has begun a condemnation proceeding in U.S. District (Court aimed at buying 57,362 l ucres of private and state lands Cwithin Capitol Reef National Park in Wavne County. According to a document fded by Paul Badger, clerk of the U. S. District Court for the District of Utah, he received $260,001 from the U. S. government Friday. He deposited depos-ited the money in the court registry. The money is "The amount of the estimated compensation" compensa-tion" that will be paid to the owners of the land. The suit notes that the land will be seized under the government power of eminent domain. The land is required for the proper administration, preservation and development of Capitol Reef for the benefit and enjoyment of the public. Those owning the land or having an interest in it were listed us the State of Utah; Clair J. Bird, Torrey; Clair Bird, Capitol Reef Lodge and Tours, which is owned by Bird and the estate of his late wife, Emma, Archie Bird, Jr.; Utahna Andrea, Green Hornet Mining Corp. and the treasurer treasur-er of Wayne County. Specifically not included in the action is land deeded to the State Department of Transportation Transpor-tation amounting to .23 acres. |
