Show Students Return $ rosn Clinic in SIC Four Journalism students traveled to the University of Utah last Thursday to. participate in the 19th annual an-nual Sportswriters and Photographers Pho-tographers Clinic. Students attending from Grand County Coun-ty High School were Sherry Oliver, Shirley Jones, Jim Dickerson and Randy Sackerson. Sack-erson. Sherry and Shirley participated in newswriting, Jim in sportswriting, and Randy . in photography. The students attended classes Friday morning after af-ter registering. Notable area sportswriters and sportscas-ters sportscas-ters along with representa- tives from the Salt Lake Tri-bune Tri-bune and Deseret News spoke to the students in their various sessions. Sportswriters from high schools all over the state were instructed by HacK Miller and Dave Kadlcck of the Deseret News, along with John Mooney and Dick, Rosetta of the Salt Lake Tribune. Deseret News photographers, photograph-ers, Wally Kasteler and Don Grayston joined Ross Welser and Lynn Johnson of the Salt Lake Tribune in the session designed for photographers. photo-graphers. Larry Kurtz, news editor from the Associated Press, ar.d Harold Schindler from the Salt Lake Tribune directed dir-ected the session for the newswriters attending the clinic. During a noon luncheon ' which was attended by all students present, Bill Meek, football coach at the University Uni-versity of Utah, gave an address to the crowd. The final meeting for the students stu-dents was, one for all students stu-dents at which Bill Marcroft of KUTV spoke on "Sports in Sight and Sound." Later that afternoon, photographers pho-tographers and sportswriters sportswrit-ers covered a Class A basketball bas-ketball game, while the newswriters interviewed the Honorable Senator Hughes Brockbank. After completing these assignments, as-signments, the news and sportswriters wrote their stores and submitted them for judging. The photographers photograph-ers were given a week to develop film and send in prints, also to be judged. Three $50 cash prizes will be given to the first place winners in each of the three categories. The results cf the clinic contest will not be announced for a few days after the judging is completed.
