Y' i j i - ' V v, ' i X V i - , " Y ; " Explorer Post 2317, the Rockrunners, are getting ready for their demonstration of rope rescue techniques which will take place the evening before the Jeep Safari. Barbeque, Rescue Demonstration Beinq Planned for Safari-Eve The local Boy Scouts and Explorers are making good progress for their pre-Safari Barbecue. Leaders discussed the coming com-ing event at their regular District Meeting this past , Monday night at the courthouse. court-house. Grand District Chairman Chair-man Dick Barnes, Moab, announced an-nounced that Charles Redd has offered to contribute 1.000 pounds of beef to the barbecue and that other organizations or-ganizations and companies have donated the rest of the food. The Scouts expect and hope to feed about 2,000 consisting con-sisting of Jeep Safari visitors, visi-tors, other area visitors and Moab residents. The barbecue barbe-cue is scheduled to take place Friday, April 4th from 5 to 9 p.m. There will be events and exhibits by the Scouts all during the evening. A spec ial demonstration will be given by local Explorer Post 2317 under the leadership of Robert Migli'ori. This post has received publicity formerly form-erly for its dramatic work on the cliffs around Moab and for its rescue work. Another demonstration on the agenda will be the Indian dancing put on by members of the Order of the Arrow which will include regular and flaming hoop dancing. This group has danced 50 times in the past three months in the Salt Lake City area and has received return re-turn engagements from well-known well-known Indian groups. The local Scouts hope to stage (heir pet-acquainted barbecue annually in conjunction con-junction with the Jeep Safari. |
