Show Over $10,000 Raised Locally For fiflarch ov Dimes Benefit Two activities, the Telethon and the Skate-a-rama, resulted in pledges of over $10,000 from area residents during the March of Dimes drive last weekend. The Skate-a-rama held at Moab Lanes received pleges of $7,018. Skaters attempted to keep moving for 20 hours, from 10 p.m. Saturday night to 6 p.m. Sunday evening. Twenty-nine persons, most of them students, completed the full 20-hour stretch. They were Troy Fredricks, Debbie Southards, South-ards, David Stumpf, Kevin Tangreen, Desi Miller, Robert Logan, Vicki Leavell, Mary Winfield, Todd Wilkinson, Penny Fredricks, Cindy Gil-more, Gil-more, John Badger, Jackie Cooper, Colleen Copeland, Kathleen Daniels, Naomi Dennis, Den-nis, Arnie Beyeler, Judy Blackman, Laura Brown, Suzanne Su-zanne Buchanan, David Gil-more, Gil-more, Shonna Gilmore, Kim Holyoak, Susan Horton, and Ronny Johnson. Adutls completing com-pleting the Skate-a-rama were: Roger Stow, Patsy Fredricks, Carol Head and Dave Woodruff. Wood-ruff. Heather Langford, 3 years old skated for 5 hours. One thousand dollars was donated by various businesses to have Rudy Higgins, General Manger of Texasgulf, skate for one hour. He was not an accomplished skater, but he was a good sport and $1,000 was given to the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes Telethon, Tele-thon, under the direction of the Jaycees with Ron Tumer serving as chairman, netted over $3,000 dollars in pledges. They extended thanks to the following businesses and organizations or-ganizations for donations of food stuffs, services, and time: City Market, Foodtown, Miller's Mil-ler's Super Market, Walnut Lane Market Place, Circle K, Royce and Radio Shack, Travelodge, Bowen Motel, Town T.V., Times-Independent, Continental Telephone, Sheriff s Posse, Jaycee Wives, Alpha Rho Sorority, Beta Eta Sorority, Grand County School District, Ken Bertwell and Moab Lanes.- |
