Martin of Canyon-lands Canyon-lands National Park was presented pre-sented with a special achievement achieve-ment award this week at the monthly staff meeting. Martin, Mar-tin, a seasonal park technician at the Island in the Sky district, was granted a $150 award by Supt. Pete Parry, who cited Martin's "extremely "extreme-ly capable and professional performance in interpretation and resource management." Martin's performance included in-cluded rerouting of the Aztec Butte Trail and suggesting changes in the Mesa Arch Trail. He helped in designing methods of data collection for the antelope reintroduction study which will assist greatly in the decision whether to reintroduce antelope to the natural habitat of the Island in the Sky district. Martin also wrote a trail guide brochure interpreting the Aztec Butte Trail which will be used as an interpretive aid for visitors. In making the award, Supt. Parry told Martin, "Your suggestions sug-gestions and the manner in which you implemented them contributed greatly to the interpretive program at the Island in the Sky. Congratulations Congratula-tions on a job well done!" |
