Show Monticello BLM Employee Wins Award Robert E. Turri, Bureau of Land Management surface protection specialist, has been granted a Quality Increase Award in recognition of outstanding out-standing performance the past year. The award is in the form of a salary increase. Presentation of a Certificate of Award was made by Lester P. Sweeney, San Juan Resource Re-source Area Manager, Monticello, Mont-icello, at an employees' meeting meet-ing Monday. Accompanying the Award Certificate was a letter of congratulations from Paul Howard, BLM State Director. He commended Mr. Turri for his ability to assume numerous numer-ous and varied assignments and to direct these programs with competence and effectiveness. effect-iveness. Mr. Turri's ability to motivate others to perform at their highest level and his rapport with employees, other oth-er government agencies, local government and the mineral industry, were especially noted. not-ed. Dedication to the job, thoroughness and reliablity are characteristic of Mr. Turri's Tur-ri's performance, Mr. Howard stated. Mr. Turri joined BLM in 1965 as an Enrollee Work Supervisor with the Castle Valley Job Corps in Price, Utah. He was transferred to Monticello in 1969 as a Natural Natur-al Resource Specialist. In his present position of Surface Protection Specialist he works closely with the mineral miner-al industry to assure minimal damage to surface resources from mineral exploration activities. ac-tivities. Mr. Turri and his wife, Racine, live in Monticello. They are parents of four daughters. |
