Show Devils Win One, Lose One, Travel to Juab By Jeff Oliver Friday, January 14, the first league basketball game for the Devils got underway, at the Grand County High School Gym. The Devils met up with the Emery Spartans in a close overtime game. The lead, throughout the game, was traded from one team to the other, but when the time ran out, the score was tied 54 to 54. The teams went on to play in a close three minute overtime run, with the Devils winning by the score of 56 to 58. High point man for that game was Kim Loveridge with a total of 16 points scored. Also scoring high were Mike Bunce with 14, and Tome Pruitt with 11. The Junior Varsity team also won their first league game of the season. The Junior Varsity Devils played the Spartans in a close game, but went on to claim a victory . The score ended 64 to 62. The following day, Saturday, the Moab gym was again filled with excitement, excite-ment, as the second league basketball game for the Devils got underway against the Manti Templars. Although the Devils lost one of their starting five, Mike Zimmerman, who was injured in the previous game, the first half was very close, but, in the second half, the Manti Templars quickly took a ' ten-point lead and held it throughout the game. The final score was 39 to 54, Manti's favor. High point men for the game were: Mike Bunce, 13 points, and Kim Loveridge Love-ridge with a total of 12 points scored. In the Junior Varsity competition, the Templars also came out on top, winning by the score of 52 to 66. High point men were: Billy Pruitt, and Ted McDougal both with a total of 12 points scored. Also scoring high was Chad Donohue with 10. The Moab Red Devils will be traveling to Juab to play the Wasps on Friday, January 21. The following day, Saturday, the team will travel to North Sanpete to compete with the Hawks. These two match-ups will be the third and fourth league games for the Devils. l " 111 - I l Ill )l !
