Show Comp, News File Box 6310 Lincoln, Neb. 68506 Moot Gains Grant for Pool Renovation Governor Scott Matheson has approved ap-proved a $17,500 grant to renovate the local swimming pool, city officials learned learn-ed this week. The funds are part of a $600,000 federal anti-recession program, to be completed by mid May. The grant, in Utah, is being administered through the Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Out-door Recreation Agency. Moab City submitted applications on Dec. 23, 1976 for three local projects which would qualify for the funds. The federal grant stipulated that this grant, aimed at reducing unemployment, must be used for upgrading and renovation of existing park facilities. In Moab City's application Administrator Admin-istrator Dave Bretzke noted that the Moab municipal pool was constructed in 1956 and has not had any major maintenance work done since that time. The two other projects submitted, which did not receive funding, were landscaping and paving at the Visitor Center, for a total of $13,455, and improvements at the Old City Park, including installation of a lawn sprinkling sprink-ling system. This was to total $10,000. Bretzke said the work on the pool, which includes extensive renovation, should commence in February or March, depending on the weather, and should be completed before May 1. |
