Show CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Three out-of-town speakers presented a program on low-income low-income housing at a meagerly attended meeting of Chamber of Commerce. Steve Hatch of FmHA informed those present pres-ent about the availability of money on the FmHA program, prog-ram, and the fact that nearly everyone in Green River would probably be eligible for a loan. Bill Callahan, representing the State Department of Community Com-munity Affairs stressed that without adequate housing, it is doubtful that any industrial development could be obtained. obtain-ed. He spoke on the availability availabil-ity of a HUD program spon-spored spon-spored by the City. Ms. Geneva Markisich-Powell brought out a great deal of information on how to go about getting a loan from government agencies, and stated sta-ted that she had dealt successfully success-fully with various programs for several years. She also pointed out that it takes someone with the energy to get a housing development started, and the town is well able to support one or two modest housing projects. Ms. Markisich-Powell spent a couple of days here meeting with real estate people, and others interested in setting up a housing development. James (Jimmy D.) Duerock passed the examination for Inspector Authorization on the 13th. This entitles him to perform annual inspections,, also make major repair and alteration inspections. He is the only authorized inspector in SE Utah. Recently, together with A. C. Ekker and Richard Ryan, Jimmy D. purchased the local airport, which they will call Redtail Aviation. Jimmy D. will manage the shop and do all major and minor repair to aircraft. The boys will provide and extend more service to the aircraft owners and other interested, air-minded people of the area. Jim Bonine will continue to instruct, and all fixed-base operations and services will be offered to the public. |
