Show -m-rn- J - - Busy Week Planned Here For Butch Cassidy Days A Western Art Show of local art displayed in various stores throughout town will begin Monday, June 2, when Moab's Annual Butch Cassidy Days Celebration will get underway. The Second Butch Cassidy Trail Ride will begin Wednesday, June 4, when the trail ride bunch will leave the United Campground in Green River. The three day ride will emcompass two nights of camping at Dripping Springs and Upper Court House. Reservations and a payment of $25 per rider must be made by Monday, June 2, with either the Green River or Moab Chamber of Commerces. An old fashioned melodrama, "Curse You, Jack Dalton", is slated to be presented Wednesday and Thursday at Star Hall beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $1 for adults and 75c for children. Don't forget, when it rains, it pours thousands of ping pong balls Thursday at noon, each with a number corresponding with a local business which will entitle people to free gifts, prizes, and discounts. This ping pong thunderstorm should drop about 4000 balls. Friday the Rodeo parade starts at 6 p.m. A special treat before and after this event is an autograph party by Lula Parker Betenson, sister of Butch Cassidy, who will also be in the parade. Mrs. Bentenson's recently completed her book, "Butch Cassidy, My Brother", and will be on hand to autograph it at Canyonlands Trading Post at 2-5 p.m. and after the parade for about an hour before the rodeo begins at 8 p.m. The rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday nights. An open-air dance, beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday night after the rodeo, is scheduled to be held at the tennis courts next to Star Hall. Saturday should be a really fun day with horseshoe pitching beginning at noon in the City Park and a downtown shoot-out tentively set for 5 p.m. Those wishing to enter the horseshoe pitching contest should sign up ahead of time in the county clerk's office at the Court House. Entry fee is $2 and entrants will receive free tickets to the rodeo. |
