Show HOMER DAVIS HURT Homer Davis was injured injur-ed in a mine accident at one of the Atlas mines in the Four Corners area late Friday. His loader tipped over, pinning him beneath it, injuring him seriously. Men working with him brought in another machine, ma-chine, pulled the loader upright, and carefully lifted Homer and slipped a litter basket under him. By that time the ambulance ambu-lance had asrrived and he was taken to Moab, where he was re-routed to Grand Junction. It was found he had two vertebrae broken in his neck, and on Monday morning, these and the two adjoining vertebrae were fused in a surgical operation. Because of the extreme care used in handling him after the accident, there was no injury to the spinal column, it was reported, and although Homer will be in the hospital for a good long time, he has suffered no paralysis. He is still in intensive care at St. Mary's in Grand Junction. |
