Show Mail Breaks All Records 106,274 mail inquiries have deluged Council Hall in the first four months of 1969, Utah Ut-ah Travel . Council officials announced Wednesday. ' This is a 36.6 per cent increase over the same period in 1968. April's mail count also hit the highest mark of any period per-iod in Utah's travel promotion promo-tion history. April mail requests re-quests for information totaled total-ed 57,979, over ten thousand more mail requests than were received in the highest month of 1968. Utah Travel Council Director, Dir-ector, Dave Rose, said that interest in the Golden Spike Centennial and the John Wesley Wes-ley Powell Centennial was responsible for much of the increase. "Our office, as well as chamber of commerce offices, of-fices, convention offices, city, state and local offices, have been receiving many calls, letters on the Golden Spike festivities," Rose stated, "but while the Golden Spite is certainly significant to a portion of our mail increase, it also appears that the majority ma-jority of our mail requests are for general tour information. informa-tion. Thus, I believe Utah will have a strong tourist travel year in 1969." |
