Show Crews contained fires ;; : in Moab BLM district . Over the weekend heavy lightning I activity in Southern Utah caused twen- ty-two fires on Moab District according ( to District Manager, S. Gene Day. Quick initial attack action by fire crews i contained all but four fires under half an acre. 1 The "Range Creek" fire in Range Creek burned two acres on steep 1 ground. The "Diamond Canyon" fire burned five acres on steep ground in Eastern Book Cliffs, and the "Dark Canyon" Plateau fire burned ten acres in . . a chaining area. The "Steer Ridge" fire , . in the Roan Cliffs has burned four acres to date. ' The crews needed to suppress these fires consisted of an eighteen man Moab , District Initial Attack crew and various 1 area office personnel, a twenty-man o Uintah National Forest crew, ten man fire crew from Richfield District and an 1 eight-man Initial Attack crew from ' Grand Junction. ' Four types of helicopters and three ' ' tankers were used also in suppressing ' the fires. The public is once again cautioned , about the extreme fire danger in the area. , , |
