Show 29 Increase in Visits Noted at New sooner Rock ! Newspaper Rock State Historical His-torical Monument experienced a decrease in visitation from 524 visits in December of 1974 to 203 visits for the same month in 1975. The yearly total for 1975 is, however, much higher than 1974. In fact it shows a 29 per cent increase over the record year in 1973, when 22,235 persons visited the Monument. Monu-ment. The total visits in 1975 were 28,617. The Goosenecks State Reserve Re-serve shows a slight increase for the month of December, to close for the year with 15,732 visits. A 32 per cent increase was shown over the total visits in 1974. This is, however, still somewhat below the visitation figures for the banner year set in 1973 of 22,891 visits. The increases in visitation for the 1975 tourist year over the 1974 year are probably due to the fact that many vacation plans were canceled in 1974 due to the price of gas, according to Gordon W. Topham, Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation. He said this year people seemed I to feel they deserved or needed the vacation even i though the cost had remained , high. ! |
