Show Literary Club Opened Year The Woman's Literary Club met Jan. 5 in the Council Chambers for their first business meeting of the Bicentennial Bicen-tennial Year. President Jen Pope presided and made several announcements. announce-ments. She reported on the solarium fund, which is the Literary Club's fund raising project currently and will be the club's entry in the Sears, Roebuck Foundation Civic Improvement Contest Feb. 1. Juanita Mabery is the project scrapbook chairman, Ha Cor-bin Cor-bin is the co-chairman, along with Mrs. Pope as fund raising chairman. The club will send in 3 biographies to the Women of Utah, Bicentennial project . of the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs. State Crafts Chairman Ann Pool asked for entries for the Fashion Designs for the Handicapped project, and President Pope asked that the club support crime prevention by supporting the Moab Hotline, which is dialed 259-MOAB (or 259-6622). The next meeting will be Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 pm in the conference room of First Western National Bank with Gwyn Meador and her Education Educa-tion Committee as hostesses. Membership to local women is closed for this year, but any new women moving to Moab are welcome to attend or call Mrs. Pope at 259-5635 or Mrs. Pool at 259-5604 for information. |
