Show Eye Glasses Campaign Was Success On December 18 the Moab Lions Club announced its campaign to collect old eye glasses to be contributed to the New Eyes for the Needy I project. Collection boxes were I placed in the three supermar- v kets. Dr. B.A. Broughton's j office and Burton Square for the convenience of contribu- tors. On January 2 Club President Slim Mabery took a count and proudly announced 1 that he was well pleased with the results. He announced that 91 complete pairs of glasses plus 25 pairs of extra lenses, 15 pairs of frames and 43 cases had been contributed at that time. The campaign will be carried through January 28, he said. Persons with old eye glasses to be discarded are urged to contribute them to this worthy cause, he added. Maybery said that last year this project I was conducted by the Moab Leo Club and that the response was terrific. Moab came in tj second in the entire state. "I only wish there was some way we could show our appreciation apprecia-tion to these contributors," Mabery said. "But," he added, "Perhaps their rewards re-wards will be realized in the fact that they have helped some unfortunate person to see a little better." |
