Tomsic and Dixie Barker, and incumbent, Harold Jacobs, took the oath of office from Judge fJeiv FAembers Assume Council Duties Swearing in ceremonies Monday Mon-day at noon placed two new members on the Moab City Council, and placed a third member at the beginning of a new term. New additions to the Council, as the result of November's election, are Marjorie R. Tomsic and Dixie L. Barker. Mrs. Tomsic was assigned, by Mayor William D. McDou-gald, McDou-gald, responsibility over administration, ad-ministration, finance and planning. plan-ning. She is a former member of the Grand County School Board. Mrs. Barker, recently president of the Moab Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce, was assigned assign-ed responsibilities over parks, recreation, building inspection and health. The third newly-sworn newly-sworn member, Harold Jacobs, Ja-cobs, will continue his responsibilities respon-sibilities in streets, water, sewer and waste disposal. The two new members replaced former councilmen I.D. Nightingale and Richard Hammer, who did not seek reelection this year. Other City Council assignments assign-ments will remain the same, according to Mayor McDou-gald. McDou-gald. Gerald M. Bonser will continue to be in charge of public safety, and drug and alcohol abuse. Keith Peterson will continue in his capacity as councilman in charge of community affairs. Mayor McDougald stated Monday that the Council is narrowing down a list of applicants being screened to fill the role of city administrator, administra-tor, and will begin the task of interviews soon. City Recorder R.W. Unger has agreed to stay on for a short period while the council is making its selection, and that should be completed Donald Crist last Monday during ceremonies In the Moab City Council Chambers.
