Show Sikh Roads Blamed Jan. 2 For Three Accidents Here Moab City Police and the Grand County Sheriffs Department De-partment investigated three accidents on Jan. 2 within a 25-minute period of time, all attributed to slick road conditions. condi-tions. At 3:05 pm at the City Market parking lot Benito Martines, driving a 1972 Mercury, was turning off Main St. to enter the parking lot and hit a 1973 Chevrolet belonging to Toni Tangreen, doing about $200 damage to the Chevrolet. At 3: 15 pm at the intersection . of Walnut Lane and First West Wendy Dohse, driving a 1973 Ford, Had stopped at the yield sign and was hit from the rear by a 1973 Chevrolet driven by Ronald K. Farnsworth. There was about $500 damage to the Chevrolet and $400 damage to the Ford. At 3:25 pm 3imiles south of Moab at the intersection of Mill Creek Drive and Powerhouse Power-house Lane George Melo, driving a 1975 Ford pickup owned by William Roedel, slowed for a vehicle ahead and Wanda Melo, driving a 1970 Ford Maverick, applied brakes and slid into the pickup. The accident resulted in about $500 damage to the Maverick. The first two accidents were investigated by City Police, and the third was investigated by Carl Davis of the Grand County Sheriffs Department. There were no citations issued in any due to road conditions at the time. During the week police also investigated an act of vandalism vandal-ism which occurred Jan. 4 at the Poplar Place when 11 windows were broken out with marbles and what is thought to be a sling shot. Total damage was estimated at $975 and the incident is still under investigation. |
