Show Utah Polled Hereford Assn. To Host Sale ! The breeders of Polled Herefords are staging a sale March 13, 1976 at 1 p.m. in Richfield. Utah. These Hereford Here-ford cattle are bred to eliminate horn propagation thus eliminating the dehorning operation and the weight loss incurred from this. They are equal to or better in the gainability department and conversion rate of feeds. Brigham Young University is currently conducting a conversion test with the various breeds of cattle. Polled Hereford shows were the first to have three judges and to have available the age and weight on each individaul to aid in judging. The Polled Hereford Policy is that "They must exhibit economic factors in addition to show factors." ' The Polled Hereford Associ-ation Associ-ation has Various ratings for bulls who have proven superior super-ior to the average called, "Superior Sires!" Some of the ' records are 2100 pounds as a " two year old. The longest, I tallest, heaviest bull of any bull at a National Show. A high of $400,000 will price for one i bull. Another record is 4 'si t 1 pound average daily gain on a ! 140 day supervised test. A ! superior sire gets a superior rating from progeny at shows, i feed tests, and own ability of 1 gaining weight, etc. In other words, these sires' calves must be consistently above their contemporaries. These kind of cattle are being sold to 5'5 help improve your cattle and "''f4' herds. Some are Al Sons of ?!D1 superior sires. The sires of these bulls and heifers repre- sent approximately 15 differ- '? ' ent states and outstanding individuals. |
