Show American Party Exec. Committee Held Meet Members of the State Executive Committee of the American Party met in So. Salt Lake to elect a new State Chairman, which was created by the resignation of Robert Trepanier, former chairman. Hal Massey, native of Salina, was elected from a slate of four candidates who were campaigning for the top spot in the American Party of Utah. Mr. Massey, having been active in the AP for several years, started his first official job as a precinct chairman. He next was elected Chairman of Sevier County and a member of the State Central Committee and State Executive Committee. Hal has also worked on the AP Constitution Committee, Then in September 1975 was appointed ap-pointed Chairman of the Publicity Committee and in February 1976 was reappointed reappoint-ed editor of the Utah Eagle. Hal is currently a member of the National Executive Com- mittee. Mr. Massey has wide and varied experience in finance, business administration, and general construction. He has always been active in civic and community affairs and an active member, in good standing, of the Church of Jesus Christ. Mr. Massey stated, "My immediate concern is uniting the American Party and closing ranks to form a strong and viable political organization organiza-tion based on Constitutional principles in the spirit of our Founding Fathers." Hal also stated, "We have a permanent i AP platform, which most closely approaches the ideals and principles of the Gospel and the U.S. Constitution. Compare what the American Party has in the way of ideals, principles, and goals, to the other political parties, who vacillate by whim, popular demand, or, the then current, expedient schemes or secret comoinations. rresenuy, we are confronted by opposition, where on one hand we have personalities and expediency, vs. principles and ideals on the other. In this situation, there is no neutrality. If we support the wrong, we are part of the problem. However, by supporting sup-porting the right, we then, are part of the solution. We need not surrender belief in high principals to gain popularity, -or get along with people. Prestige results from policies and principles that are in the best interests of free men, wherever." Hal also stated, "We live in perilous times, it appears this is the time when the very elect shall be deceived. We are engaged in a great work here : upon the earth. We can't ; waste time drifting. When you I received the facts about our ; Constitutional Republic and ! the threats to it, you wanted to get involved. We, in the ! mountain tops, are a strange ; and peculiar people. Mostly ! because we believe in free- dom, free agency, and the ( power of discernment, and we J won't be blindly led down the rosey path to destruction. I Vou have now decided you I want to have an impact through a political organiza-t organiza-t tion. Your selection of the ! American Party, has come four I square with the scriptures, the prophets, the Constitution and i your own conscience. Now let I us move forward and let the enemy howl." |
