Show Science Students Winners in State Meet Two Moab science students stud-ents competed in tfee Greater Great-er Utah State Science Fair at Salt Lake City last weekend. Both brought aw ards back home. Jolene Helm, in the sen ior high school division, won first place in the biolo gy division, and second ov erall rating. She will now compete at the Internation al Science Fair in San Fran cisco with her project. Randy Sackerson, 9th grade student, was invited by the Engineers Associa-ton Associa-ton to enter hs project, "Doppler Effects of Radar" in the fair. He won a 3rd place rating, plus a separate separ-ate first from the Air Force. Junior High science instructor, in-structor, Alan Hance, said it was regretable more of Moab's top science students were not among the State Fair competitors. However, the Moab school had been informed the junior high group was not included in the meet. Upon arrival at the fair it was discovered the students, who returned with most of the region fair awards, had been ex-expected. ex-expected. The situation was unfortunate, but a precedent prece-dent for next year was established. |
