Show 4 Moab Science Student Takes State Fair Honors A Moab Junior, Jolene I Helm, 16 years old, took I first and second state senior sen-ior Science Awards at state competition held Saturday, April 1, at Brigham Young University at Provo. Mliss Helm, by winning the second in overall award aw-ard of the Utah Academy of Science Arts and Letters, again won an expense paid trip to the International science Fair to be held in San Francisco, May 10-14. Her entry in the Biological Biolog-ical Science Division was adjudged first in that division div-ision which sent her to the second overall title. The entry title "Salinity Tolerance Toler-ance Determination of Gup-pies," Gup-pies," dealt with proving the resistance of guppies to certain salt solutions. Her aspiration for next year is the cellular physiology study stu-dy of gupipes. . Mr. Herman Heath, of Grand county high school, has been Jolene's instructor instruct-or and sponsor to the Symposium Sym-posium held in Salt Lake City and to the Science Fairs this year. Miss Helm is the daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Helm of 7 Orchard Way. |
