The charitable societies had many requests v for aid which they were unable to grant as they, like the general public, were nnable to purchase the coal or wood which everyone so eagerly sought. SACRAMENTO, Jan. 15. The snow plows of the Southern Pacific company Lave succeeded in keeping the line open aeross the Sierras, but traffic was brought to a standstill by the derail- mant of a special passenger train locomotive loco-motive in Blue Canon. Nobody was hnrt, but the track was badly torn up j and westbound passenger trains are not i expected here until this afternoon or j veiling. |
