Show TAX SAFES AND NURSEMAIDS. Paul Doeri, a Hungarian school teacher, has suggested an ingenious new mode of increasing the revenue by taxing safes and nursemaids. Any firm or private person, be says, who possesses posses-ses a safe for money can afford to pay a special tax, and he thinks business honses could pay two crowns (40 cents) nnd private persons 20 crowns ($41. Half a million crowns (flOn.000) might thus be raised. Similarly Doeri argues nursemaids are also luxuries for which the employer ought to be taxed. |
