Show MINING NOTES. Lucian "Ray has gone to Seven Troughs district to inspect his proper- I ties there. Clinto Ray returned today from that locality, crammed to the top with stories of wealth and prosperity. H. M. Crowther, general manager of Continental-Alta went to the mine today to-day on an inspection trip. John Dern and wife have gone to Los Angeles for a few weeks' rest. George E. Gunn and' associates left today for Ely. where they will go over a number of valuable properties belonging belong-ing to them. . Taylor & Brunton yesterday sampled sam-pled spven cars of ore from Nevada, eleven from Utah and one from Idaho; the Pioneer treated four from Utah, and one from Nevada. F. W. Sherman, general manager of the Sherman Engineering company, and superintendent of the Daly West concentrating con-centrating plant,, left last night v for Park City. Eighty-five miles of the trip will be done by stage, and the remaining remain-ing fifteen by snowsnoes. Operators and miners on the ead side of Walker lake, four miles from Walker siding, on the Southern Pacific railroad, have formed the Mnnd mining district, and reports from there indicate indi-cate unusual activity and prosperity. Utah Copper stockholders at a special spe-cial meeting held in New York City yesterday yes-terday ratified the proposed issue of 60,000 shares of capital stock, to be disposed dis-posed of at $25 each. E. P. Jennings returned yesteray from an inspection trip , of Yerington properties, prop-erties, and is particularly proud of nold-ings nold-ings controlled by Salt Lake operators, including wuch claims as the Yerington Consolidated, Douglas, Mason Valley, Bluestone and Ludwig. What is termed the richest shipment leaving Rhyolite in the history of the district was shipped recently from Gold Bar mine. The ore averaged between $8000 and $9000 in gold to the ton, and was mined from North shaft, at 100 feet. Enormous masses of free milling and other ores have been uncovered on the property, and the mine is said to be one of tne richest gold propositions in the State. Ore and bullion receipts were as follows: fol-lows: Ore, $51,000; bullion, $17,700. Prospects loom up so favorably to the management of the famous Smith-Greene Smith-Greene Antimony company, near Mill City, Humboldt county, Nevada, that it is proposed to build a mill to handle the output, which in the future will be confined to 60 per cent antimony ore and better. William P. Smith, president of the company, passed through this city yesterday on his way East. Deriving mutual benefit by driving a tunnel through Steptoe mountains, Ely district, to supply water to the new melter at McGill on Duck Creek, the Lead King Mining company and the smelter people have come to an agreement agree-ment wherety the great work will be carried on .without extra cost to either. The tunnel obviates twelve miles of flumes. Remanded back to the District court for this district to be tried on its merits after having been tried before the United States Circuit Court of Appeals at St. Louis, the suit filed by the heirs of Timothy Kelly, who claimed a one-half one-half interest in the King William claim of the Grand Central Mining company, is now before S. H. Lewis, referee in chancery. Walter C. Orem and others of the party par-ty which recently went to , Yerington to inspect properties of the newly-organized Yerington Consolidated company, com-pany, are expected back tomorrow. , Six miles east of Rosebud and near the Western Pacific railroad, a new and highly mineralized section has . been opened up. The properties are located in tne Sawtooth mountain range and give high silver values: Charles Schwab and Malcolm McDonald, together with other prominent operators have acquired valuable claims in the district. Modern machinery has been placed on Wasa mine. North Tintie district, nd 1300 feet of the tunnel have beer driven. E. L. Ounberge, manager, was in the city yesterday, and spoke encouragingly en-couragingly of the mine. ; 1 J. 8. Free,' president and superintendent superintend-ent of the newly incorporated Pioche Demijohn Mining company, left today for the properties, located in Lincoln county, Nevn one group in Ely district, the other in Highland district.
