Show EMINENT DOMAIN BILL MADE A SPECIAL ORDER After a prolonged debate in the Senate Sen-ate yesterday, Senator Benner X. Smith's bill for eminent domain for the smelters, the bill was made a "special "spe-cial order of business for 3 o'clock this afternoon. The discussion of the measure meas-ure brought out the fact that the city members of the Senate are in favor of the bill while the country members, in many cases, are bitterly, opposed to it. Senator Smith opened the argument for the bill, which was favorably reported re-ported by the Committee on Mines and Smelters. He declared that the bill is for the betterment of the farmer and the smelter people. He said that eminent emi-nent domain should be granted, as the farmers in certain places would try to "hold up" smelters for exorbitant prices. . , Senator 'Walton declared that the bill is unnecessary and that there are plenty of places for the smelters. j Senator Clegg declared that bis county coun-ty (Tooele) wanted the smelters but was unwilling to grant eminent domain. Senator Hulaniski spoke strongly in favor of the bill, and he was followed by Benner X. Smith with a more detailed de-tailed description of the bill. John Y. Smith was strongly against the bill.
