Show BRYCE SEES ONLY HOPE. IN AMERICA NEW YORK. March 28. James Bryce, British Embassador to trie United States, in the course of a brief speech at a banquet ban-quet given In his honor at the Union League club last night, said: "I remember when this club- was formed. I was an undergraduate at Oxford. Ox-ford. That was when the American Union was threatened with disruption. Nowhere No-where in all England was the cause of the union more warmly espoused than in the two universities of Oxrord and Cambridge. I am struck by the fact that the dark clouds of those stormy days tn this land have passed away and that the people have come together long since and made peace. Now your union stands firm and more closely knit than ever. As far as the eye can see down the future ages there promises only a continued and ever stronger bond of union." |
