Keith-O'Brien & Company, closely identified and allied with the business interests and progress of Salt LakeJ announce their intention of entering the financial field as private bankers Banking offices are now being hand4 somely equipped on the gallery in the rear of the store, and a general bank') ing business as conducted bv private bankers will be operated. This com prises the receiving of savings deposits which will bear interest. The latter will be presented to the public in a new ana, especially attractive manner, embody ing many features conducive to the benefit of tho depositor. It is the inten tion of Kcith-0 Brien & Company Id solicit depositors not, only from SalfJ Lake proper, but from the territory adjacent thereto, and- in the receivj ing of such accounts to furnish each del positor with the practical means of savj ing money. Concerning the move, MrS H. W. Walker, manager of the depart ment store, says: t "In the conduct of a business such as ours we are necessarily placed in close relations with a large number of people whose wants, requirements and accommodations we are desirous of con serving. Having this iu mind, and alsJ a fairly comprehensive idea of the pos sibilities of the business and trade conj ditions of Salt Lake, wo will engage in banking under the firm name of Keith-O'Brien & Company,, private bankers. We will receive deposits sub ject to an interest earning arrange ment. We further intend to pursue a vigorous campaign concerning the manifest advantages and self-evident necessity of saving money." j Percy F. Garnett of New York City is now here preparatory to taking charge of the new offices and w'ill pTo cecd to at once install the features con templated'by Keith-O'Brien & Coml pany. Mr. Garnett comes fully equipped with technical knowledge in banking matters and with years of experience in means and methods concerning the same. An- interview with Mr. Garnett develops the following: 1 "In connection with the receiving and handling of funds and accounts, as is common with banking concerns: Keith-O'Brien & Company will introf duce and install here the home safe plan of saving money, also the pocket safe. This system has become a rccogf nized feature in banking circles and is being successfully operated by variouj national. State and savings banks, as well as trust companies throughout th States. In brief this plan is as follows: "Every adult who will agree t make use of it can obtain a home safe which in a strong steel bos constructed to receive money, both coins and bills, but money once placed in the safe cannot can-not be removed by the depositor. Kcith-O Kcith-O 'Brien & Company alone - holds the key. They will also distributo to adults pocket safes which are designed on the same plan as the home safe, only they can be carried in the pocket. Being a constant reminder to save, there is no doubt that a person who carries -one of these littlo safes will save much of the small change which he would otherwise spend.
