Show SAVED THE MONEY POR TOMBSTONE i . . . . It Was With That He Got DrunK, Declares One Soldier Sol-dier Who Is Charged! With Robbery. In endeavoring to prove an alibi, William Wil-liam J. O'Leary took the stand in his own defense in Judge Armstrong's court this morning and declared that on the night he was charged with robbery he became Intoxicated with the money he was saving with which to buy a tombstone. O'Leary endeavored to show that be was not in the vicinity in which Harold Har-old Berrum declares he was robbed by "Mike" McCabe and O'Leary, who are soldiers at Fort Douglas. The robbery is alleged to have taken place February Febru-ary 27. Berrum contends that he was "held up" and robbed by th soldiers of $60. Both McCabe and O'Leary were placed on the stand in their own defense.! de-fense.! Both asserted tbat they were downtown at the time of the alleged robbery. O'Leary declared tbat he spent $U he had with him and which be was saving to send east as his share in paying for a tombstone for his parents.! pa-rents.! The case will go to the jury this evening. |
